Without getting into details my product does exactly what my competition do (fundamentally) but cheaper (1/10th the cost)

Do I launch sooner but only replicate the core features of the competition, or add ~3-6mo of dev time to add the extra features.

My assumption, and the general rule, seems to be that launch now with the core product only. But are there exceptions to that rule?

Launch now, but bear in mind there is no such thing as ‘build it and they will come’

Also bear in mind that cheaper does not mean you will make sales. Cheaper can mean untrustworthy, cheaper can mean you don’t value their problem. Price is a function of marketing rather than sales as they are not inversely proportional.

It depends on what you mean by ‘launch’. If you mean get it into production - yes. If you mean to have a wait-list? - yes. If you mean full blown marketing - no if you dont even have customers.

First few customers usually need to be hand held to use your system. You establish some relationship with them to get feedback and iterate. Once you’ve validated your product, then you do the full blown marketing.
