There is a business coach that has a guarantee that I will make what I make now as an employee as a freelance consultant within 6 months and if not that she’d continue working with me for free. The cost is $2,500. She doesn’t have a website and Instagram is her main site. I thought that sounded promising UNTIL she asked me to pay on the discovery call to secure my spot. I asked if she at least had a LinkedIn page and she didn’t offer it to me. Is this normal? I was admittedly pulled in by the guarantee.

    These scams are all over instagram on my feed lately due to paid ads. So obvious that they are no good. If they were that great they wouldn’t need to advertise they would have a backlog of users.

    I wonder if you and I walked away from the same scam? I found a business coach podcast. I liked her content so wanted to learn more about working privately with her.

    There was serious sticker shock when I asked her rates. But I figured she makes these great promises and is probably worth the investment.

    It all fell apart for me when I could barely find a web presence. She’s only on instagram and a simple website. She doesn’t rank on Google. No news articles or PR for her.

    Realized if she’s so great at social media and marketing, where is she online?

    My gut feeling was solidified when she had a live call and six people showed up and no one had questions for her.

      Ok the more I talk out loud (or write out loud) about this the more silly I feel. She doesn’t even have a podcast and has zero internet presence… I even tried to reverse Google image her face and did not find anything. Yikes. I think I almost fell for it because I’ve been feeling very stressed lately trying to land a freelance gig in my field and I wanted guidance because I don’t know anyone that’s made the switch. I’m so glad I backed out.

        You shouldn’t feel silly… you didn’t take the plunge and you didn’t spend your money. Even better you followed your gut and your critical thinking. But you’re out there looking to make the leap, which is important. What field are you in that you’re having trouble finding others who took the leap?

    It’s totally normal for scam coaches, yes.

    She will “keep working with you” but infinity times zero is still zero.

    What good is thta guarantee? It’s not even your money back

    What a scam. What is stopping her from taking your money and ghosting you? Instagram? Not a legit business.
