G’Day folks - Looking to see what you guys think about my plan.
Background:
I am working in cooperate since 18 years and I had a lot of success driving sales. What I am very good at and people are seeking help from me are the following:
- Market data analyses (advanced SQL and Excel skills)
- Communication skills (negotiation, self presentation, persuading, clear communication etc.)
I use my advanced data analyses skills underlining my arguments with customers. I am obsessed with data. I negotiate with customers doing several million dollar turnovers every year.
I am sick of working in corporate. I have so many ideas which I often see from the data. But most companies are to afraid or just follow stupid guidelines and not testing them out.
What I want to do:
I want to help businesses as a consultant in business analyses. Gathering all data internally and transforming them to achieve external goals. I will also help them to communicate this data externally. I will also work on their negation and self presentation.
Product:
I am not very clear about my products as it is a mix of business analytics and communication training. I am wondering if that makes people confused.
How I want to get customers:
- Writing blogs/articles/YouTube/podcasts etc.
- Partner with local networks
- Speaker at events
- Writing a book
What do you think about my plan? Would you hire somebody like me?
That’s not how the enterprise consultancy business works.
It works initially through your personal relationships.
Then spreads initially through the relationships of your clients (referrals).
Then spreads through the relationships of your partners as you bring them aboard.
Relationships is where you need to focus, not YouTube videos. YouTube, blogs, etc is for product companies or if you are already massive scale, and is marketing. What you are doing is enterprise services, and what you need is sales activities, not marketing activities. So you need to get to your network, make calls, offer low cost initial services to get case studies to help on next ones, etc.
Great thanks!
