Extremely new to all of this, sorry if my question is silly.
So I’m hoping to develop products before I flesh out a working website, but I’m confused as to where would be best to register and park my domain.
Would it any different if I register and park my domain with Shopify than with Squarespace, aside from the price of the domain itself? Is it easier to make a parked page with Squarespace? Is making a parked page something I need to even worry about, if I ultimately just want to reserve the domain for now?
I’m considering Shopify because I read that its interface is easy to work with and good for the long run for scaling up, but that it’s a bit pricey. I’m also open to recommendations for other web builders and hosting.
Thanks so much!
Not silly, everyone has to learn this the first time.
Buy your domain from a domain registrar. The most well known one is GoDaddy.com but you may want to use another one (for reasons).
This article explains how the process works and lists some options: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-choose-the-best-domain-registrar/
Good luck in your business!
GoDaddy has a terrible track record. Go elsewhere.
I quite agree. This is why I said you may want to use another one. No need for a downvote.
We use namecheap.com to buy domains, their service is pretty straight forward and also affordable.
The domains can be parked on their site free of charge as well, perfect choice if you just want to reserve the domain.
Namecheap is my go-to, then I do cloudflare for my DNS.
