I’m very VERY new to this because for the past 2 years I’ve just been casually selling things on my college campus and I’ve been thinking of selling more seriously. I was originally thinking Etsy but most of the small artist I follow have left the platform due to the fees and moved to their own personal sites (mainly big cartel) so I’ve been rethinking it. So I was wondering if Etsy was worth it since I’m a beginner or is there possibly a better platform. (I was mainly thinking of using TikTok shop but I don’t have much of a following there).
I’ve found A LOT of success on Mercari. I had an Etsy shop and left for a number of reasons. Mercari’s fees are more reasonable (e.g. you only pay for the ad if the item sells) and the mailing, taxes, logistics work fine. Try it out and see if you like it.
