I’ve worked at a marketing agency for the past 4 years as a project manager. I have a degree in marketing and finance. I’m struggling with finding meaning and purpose behind my work and I’m feeling a strong pull towards creating something that encompasses my true passions and interests (for example - Community, music, artistic expression, knowledge sharing and self improvement). I could see entrepreneurship as a long and winding path forward to more fulfillment and alignment with my values.

Curious if others have found themselves in a similar situation and what you did to align your work with your values. Were there any exercises or resources you utilized to give yourself some direction while navigating this landscape / defining the scope of the business you were looking to start?

This is broad but any suggestions or comments are much appreciated.

I started my career as a marketing manager, then Human Resources manager, then became self-employed as a corporate trainer, speaker and now I’m an executive coach. With each career change, I became more and more satisfied so now I’m super happy with the work I do.

Looking back at my own path, as well as that of my clients who feel lost, continue doing what you’re doing.

Explore business ideas that incorporate your core values, interests, skills/knowledge/experience, and see if there is market demand.

Clarify who you want to serve, what problems you solve for them, and the transformation you provide with your products/services.
