I (19m) started a food business 3 months ago. My main offering is the korean streetfood “kimbap” which is basically the korean version of a sushi roll.

The backend of the business has been doing fine for itself thanks to the steps i took to ensure automation and proccesses being done. The problem comes in due to sales issues.

As im still studying, i opened this food business by renting a stall in one of my schools food stalls which i could monitor closely. My main target audience are students between the age of 18-25 years old.

My product has been selling well and Im thankful for it but i noticed that my side offerings which i thought would help me to earn more would do better.

I sell a 10 piece roll for $4.20 - $6.40 (singapore dollars). I offer a set meal which includes a side of kimchi and a dipping sauce for $6.60. My initial thoughts were that students my age appreciated variety and would buy said set but for some reason its very hard to get sales from it with at most 10 - 20 sets selling per day (for context i sell about 200 rolls per day).

Could I get some advice on how I could market/change my approach to better sell said sets to the students? I am considering turning it into a $1 add on instead but I dont know if that might be bad in the long run.

Any advice helps thanks!

Do you have any information about how many customers are willing to buy the add-on? What if the market size for the set meal is only 5-10% of the market for the rolls? In that case, reducing the price will not increase sales and only hurt the revenue.

Adding to what u/siew-dai-kia said, you can easily make this estimate by visiting Sangwoo Street.
