You should try your own sourcing company. You live there, probably speak some Spanish, and you can deal with people in person. You’d Work with stateside buyers and help them find manufacturers in Mexico. You locate manufacturers, help negotiate deals, help oversee quality control of produced goods, and make sure it gets shipped. You can charge something like 6% + off a total deal. You’re worth your weight in gold as the boots on the ground for the buyer.

I did this when I lived in Vietnam. Did everything from nfl wine glasses, footwear and apparel, agriculture, to beauty products … false eyelashes…… very diverse. It’s a young man’s game tho and I do not miss the traveling to multiple manufacturers and the drinking that came along with doing business in Asia.

You seem to have tons of experience in this area, is there anyway I can pick your brain? My family runs a manufacturing business and I’ve been trying to help them distribute/ or find distributors, but can’t figure out how to crack it.

Entering the manufacturing sector in Mexico with a budget of $100k USD can be a promising venture, given the country’s strong industrial presence and strategic location. Here are several potential avenues a seasoned entrepreneur might explore:

    Product Manufacturing:
Leverage your proximity to manufacturers to identify in-demand products with export potential. Consider manufacturing products for local and international markets, targeting industries with growth potential.
    Export Business:
Explore exporting Mexican-made goods to international markets. Identify products that have demand abroad and build relationships with distributors and retailers in target countries.
    Supply Chain Solutions:
Offer supply chain and logistics solutions to manufacturers. Given your logistics experience, you could provide services to streamline the production and distribution processes for local manufacturers.
    E-commerce Platform:
Build an e-commerce platform that connects Mexican manufacturers with international buyers. Facilitate transactions, handle logistics, and provide a platform for manufacturers to showcase their products globally.
    Tech-enabled Solutions:
Develop or invest in technology solutions that improve efficiency in manufacturing processes. This could include software for inventory management, production planning, or quality control.
    Custom Manufacturing Services:
Offer custom manufacturing services to small businesses or entrepreneurs who need specific products but may not have the capacity for large-scale production.
    Collaboration with Local Artisans:
Explore collaborations with local artisans to create unique, handcrafted products for niche markets. This could include textiles, ceramics, or other artisanal goods.
    Renewable Energy Solutions:
Given the global focus on sustainability, consider ventures related to renewable energy. This could involve manufacturing components for renewable energy systems or developing innovative solutions in the clean energy sector.
    Market Research and Consulting:
Use your knowledge of the local manufacturing landscape to offer market research and consulting services to businesses looking to enter the Mexican market.
    Diversification within Manufacturing:
If you identify multiple manufacturers producing different products, consider creating a diversified portfolio by investing in or partnering with several manufacturers.

Manufactures of what? I believe better way to start is to find the demand and then contact the suppliers. You can’t get everything produced like someone suggested up there

Any construction material manufacturers that you are aware of? Specifically peripherals used on construction sites? I do tax/strategy consulting on the side and a few clients in the private construction space are backed up on their deadlines due to lack of equipment. Projects valued into 8 figures are being delayed and scrapped due to some of these shortages. What I understand the need to be is ppe&g, fitted steel work, and metal gating. I can inquire and connect if you have interest and sourcing.

That’s how Floor & Decor started. Then they bought usa land and own the property they sold tile from. They listed on the stock market about 15 years later.
