Say you encounter a resume that has no degree (diploma only) but the person is the founder of a SaaS with some good amount of customers and a couple of thousands of GitHub stars, would you hire this person?

The reason I’m asking is I just don’t know what to do right now and I know there are many like me.

Should I continue on investing in my work experience, or is it worth it to go for a bachelor’s?

I think experience and results is worth way more than a degree. I have seen tons of people with degress who had no clue what they were doing or were broke.

How do you even verify if someone isn’t lying about having a degree on their resume?

Most of the time, employers ask questions related to job or skill which the one applying already knows about so the employers trust them about the rest as well.

My opinion is you’d rather work for an employer who understands that experience is miles better than a degree.

To flip that, someone who thinks you HAVE TO have a degree in order to do the job their hiring for (minus a few niche jobs) is likely not the most creative or flexible person in the world and probably feels that because they got a degree, everyone else who works around them should have to as well.
