I want to support local business but in the town I live in (southern maine) so many of them have the weirdest hours. Like open Monday to Thursday from 10 to 5. How is anyone supposed to go there? I feel like this is a newer thing?

A lot of small businesses are a family affair and things like kids activities, volunteering, volunteer fire etc impact them and their business. If they are not there, they have to close the doors. It always used to be this way before big corporations, but remember, who is there to pull you out of a fire?
