Should i invest my money in to my brother in-laws business? He needs cash to pay vendors and taxes. He needs a minimum of 300k. He has been struggling to do bad business partners. His business makes money. It is just a hard one to get financing for. No it’s not illegal.

You should buy the biz and liabilities from him at a discount as you bankrupt the entity in court. All the vendors lose and you get a fresh start.

    It’s the american way!

Didn’t even read the details. The answer is no. Never go into business with family. There are times it goes well. But the odds are not in your favor. And if it goes bad, it makes it way worse when it’s with family.

    Family/friends and business don’t mix.

I never take on partners as the risk and number of things that can go wrong explode and you don’t need that.

Honestly can’t imagine a scenario where this turns out well. You say his business makes money, but I gotta call cap on that seeing as he’s behind on bills and taxes. And I know you want to give him a gold star for his efforts and deflect the blame for the situation the businesses in. But take a good hard look

Literally the best case scenario is that his partners siphoned physical cash away from the business over time. If your brother was so ill informed to not catch something so egregious, that really calls into question his management skills. Would you really trust someone so out of touch?

    No no no no no

    And no again

Been there, done that, lost my money and my family……

If you can afford to lose it just give it to him.

    Otherwise….

    No no and no again
