I currently own one established company which is on the decline after 14 years in business, so I’m experimenting with two other ideas to keep the train going: one betting company and one competitive analysis SaaS. The betting company looks like it’ll be a smash hit. To give you an idea, my friend at the biggest ad agency in my country said that the betting company’s metrics were the best he’s ever seen. Meanwhile the SaaS looks like it could be one of those reliable lifestyle businesses in a small corner of the internet. For now I’ve put the SaaS on ice to prioritize the betting company, but I haven’t completely given up on it. At the same time I’ve just started a new family with one kid who is now one year old. My efficiency has evidently gone down as I try to be a present father in the kid’s life. The stress of managing this whole balancing act has me wondering whether I can really manage multiple kids and multiple businesses, or whether one will have to suffer in the long run due to priorities or maybe I should just stick to the one child to manage everything (which would be contrary to the two children we agreed on with the mother). What do you guys think?
Just focus on one! If it’s betting then go for that. Especially since it sounds like a higher demand and the other business is on the decline, getting that one successful sounds quicker. Maybe once that’s established you can do the SaaS in the background.
I’m a parent too and starting my own company. I reduced one workload to make time for my company. My life is not about work, but I’m trying to create higher ticket items with recurring revenue to provide more for my kids since W2 jobs are causing financial strain.
I already have two clients and then have time aside to build the things within it for development. I will definitely be adding some freelance opportunities to help with workload as things expand.
I stick to the 8 hour work day, and make sure to have quality time every day and also dinner all together at the table. Weekends are all about family too!
