I’m a university student who does art on the side. I was thinking of selling my art through stickers, but I have no clue how or where to start! All of these videos I’ve watched tell me to buy expensive machines and all that but I don’t want to buy all of that from the get go because I’m afraid of wasting my money. Any ideas on what to do? Do people send their work to sticker businesses and buy in bulk? What types of environmental friendly envelopes/packaging would you guys recommend? Is Etsy the safest place to start?

Here are some steps to sell your stickers:

    1. One of the primary conditions is to create unique designs for your stickers. You can take a clue from other people’s stickers by the Etsy or Redbubble marketplace.
    2. For the printing part you can use at-home printing or professional printing service, using a print-on-demand service (which I would prefer).
    3. For selling your stickers build an online store (website) to sell your stickers. You can also use sites like Etsy which gets around 479.5M visitors per month or Redbubble which gets around 22.6M visitors per month. I would request you to visit their marketplaces and see which stickers are selling the most and make similar types of design giving a twist with your creativity. Data received from Similarweb dot com.
    4. Use social media platform get eyeballs to your stickers. I would request you to use Pinterest as it has large women visitors. Create a Facebook page with your stickers and market it. When starting out you can use it instead of website.
    5. After you start earning you can use paid advertising for marketing your store.

    Software.

For the software part you can use:

    1. Adobe Illustrator which is a vector graphics editor that is ideal for creating stickers. It has a wide range of tools for creating complex designs, and it can export your designs in a variety of formats, including EPS, PDF, and SVG.
    2. Adobe Photoshop which is a raster graphics editor that is also well-suited for creating stickers. It is not as powerful as Illustrator for creating vector graphics, but it is still a good option for creating simple designs.
    3. Canva which is a free online design platform that is easy to use, even for beginners. It has a wide range of templates and tools for creating stickers, and it can export your designs in a variety of formats, including PNG, JPEG, and PDF.
    4. GIMP which is a free and open-source raster graphics editor that is similar to Photoshop. It is a good option for creating stickers if you are on a budget.
    5. Inkscape which is a free and open-source vector graphics editor that is similar to Illustrator. It is a good option for creating stickers if you are looking for a free alternative to Illustrator.

Both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop has a learning curve whereas Canva is very user friendly, and any layman can use it. For the packaging part the ideal way is to talk to your buyers and see what they prefer.

I hope it would help you. My best wishes.
