I own a hair salon. Typically, November is my busiest season. It has been SO quiet. A lot of my colleagues are also saying the same thing and have had to close up shop because of it - or get a second job.

People keep saying it will get better and the economy will bounce back but I don’t know. I am so close from just throwing in the towel, closing up shop and getting a corporate gig.

Sorry to hear things aren’t going well. What services? Are you marketing at all? What’s you’r lead generation strategy?

We are long standing garage door service and installation company with a Rolodex of about 6000 customers. The company, as a whole, has been around for about 16 years. I took over 8 years ago and had to start fresh with 0 customers.

I’ve actually had to dump a lot of my paid marketing to save money and cut costs. Leads are expensive in my industry. Google guarantee used to be a gold mine but corporate isn’t policing and now the top 10 list is a bunch of BS companies lead farming back to one specific company. Relying heavily on organic, GMB, word of mouth, referral programs, and am going to start canvassing neighborhoods since I had to drop my mailers due to costs.

I have a lot of competition and many of my competitors are in a race to the bottom to see who can work for free at the cheapest prices. It’s not sustainable when Chuck in a Truck undercuts you by several hundred dollars on the same service when they’re working with 0 to little overhead.

My background is in marketing, I used to be a VP in a marketing firm and acquired this current business through that one.
