I own a hair salon. Typically, November is my busiest season. It has been SO quiet. A lot of my colleagues are also saying the same thing and have had to close up shop because of it - or get a second job.

People keep saying it will get better and the economy will bounce back but I don’t know. I am so close from just throwing in the towel, closing up shop and getting a corporate gig.

Why would a salon slow? I figure that would be rock steady

I’m a 53-year-old work from home woman who just got tired of dealing with hair cutters and I’ve been cutting my own hair now for almost 3 years. I hadn’t really found any hair cutters I’m crazy about in a long time and the last Lady was so frustrating. She just didn’t show up one day, another day she left me out in the basement Lobby for over half an hour waiting while she gabbed. I just gave up on the whole thing!

I started doing my own hair after prices skyrocketted. I used to be able to get highlights and a cut for 2-300. I started doing my own hair, but went a few years ago to a salon. It was 600. And it did not look as good as when I did it myself. Plus the stylist refused to fix the tone and acted like I was doing her a favor by being there.

Stylists are all over Instagram bragging about how much they charge and how they make 300k a year doing 2 clients a day for at least 500 bucks each.

It’s super easy to do my own hair, and at least if it looks bad I can blame myself and it only cost 50 dollars.
