I hope you are well.

I am a newly fully qualified hairdresser in the UK and was curious how I approach chair rent.

I am fully qualified and have been in my current workplace for 5 years but I am employed.

I can see places in my area advertising but I’m not sure what to say or what I need to do or if I need to provide anything?.

Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi! I was a hairstylist for 12 years before switching up my career and have done chair rent as well as being an employee. I am in Canada so I am not sure if it’s similar to the UK! I would suggest reaching out to salons that you think your interested in and seeing if they are looking for someone etc. I would assume they might want to meet you, check your credentials etc. other things to keep in mind are (once again I am unsure if this is relevant because we live in different countries :)) at the places I have worked, I have had to supply my own colour line which I actually loved as I could pick the line I liked. I was also in charge of my own schedule, booking clients etc. I would say it can possibly be a bit of an investment off the start, but major rewards to follow. I am not sure if this answered your question or not, just felt compelled to reply :) good luck!
