Anytime I get an interview request from a startup with AI in their description, it gets auto rejected.

Arguably with AI startups in general but yes, France has very strong talent pool that now has access to venture capital - I’m surprised they weren’t a more public player before.

We have almost zero tech vc. All investment pretty much are going to real estate and banking. R&D doesn’t get much money and if a small startup boostrap itself and seems to be doing well then it gets aquire and move to usa…

It’s also a terrible place to build a business. The workers rights laws make it impossible to fire someone. That’s why I lot of French founders come to the US.

Their employment laws make investments somewhat a hassle in a lot of cases. Apparently it costs them a lot.

There’s a French vc in NYC that positions itself as a data driven vc for euro startups in the us. I can’t speak for or against it - it seems like a vc that might do some quantitative (if not robust) analysis… But who knows.

Don’t worry. Any progress will be thwarted by red tape and bureaucracy. The French are world leaders in that for many decades and their labour laws are draconian.
